Deerfield Beach, covering an area of 16.25 square miles in Broward County, Florida, is a city named for the numerous deer that formerly grazed along the Hillsboro River where it is located. The city, which is situated south of the Palm Beach County line, is home to over 79,000 people. Although its early residents were mostly farmers and fishermen who fished along the Intracoastal Waterway, and still largely remains an agricultural based community, its name was changed from Hillsborough to Deerfield Beach to allude to the beach in the area.
Deerfield Beach real estate offers numerous options including luxury condominiums with great ocean views, country club homes, single family homes and townhouses in gated and non-gated residential communities. The city offers a beach pier, a beach island, and a water park. Residents can also enjoy attractive dining and shopping opportunities, as well as the less crowded beach.
